CASE STUDY: KOOPER FAMILY WHISKEY

 

Crafting clean, consistent bottle shots with character

 

When Kooper Family Whiskey needed professional product photography for their retail and e-commerce listings, the brief was clear: precision, consistency, and premium polish.

The images needed to reflect the craftsmanship behind each bottle—without distractions.

Every shot had to feel intentional and cohesive, no matter where it appeared—on a website, inside a distributor catalog, or in an ad campaign.

THE CHALLENGE

 

Photograph eight SKUs with varying bottle shapes and label styles, while maintaining uniform lighting, angles, and background.

The goal was to create a seamless product library that made it easy for customers—and retailers—to connect with the brand’s identity at a glance.

Although the initial concept was light color white to gray shaded backgrounds, the desire for a prominent whiskey colored shadow was discussed.

This would involve shooting hard light through the bottle to create a suitable shadow.

THE APPROACH

 

I treated each bottle like a flagship product—polished, lit, and styled for maximum clarity.

  • White seamless backgrounds for clean e-commerce alignment
  • Controlled light to enhance label details and glass reflections
  • Consistent angle and crop to unify the product line visually
  • High-end retouching to preserve detail while removing imperfections

The shoot was completed over three days in the studio.  This allowed time to experiment and position lighting to create shadows that matched the Kooper vision.

Every bottle cleaned by hand to eliminate dust, fingerprints, and other retail distractions.  

High end editing cleaned any missed imperfections and sharpened the labels, as well as refined the glow of the whiskey and shadow to match the Kooper brand.

Although the contract called for 8 images, I ended up delivering 16. 8 different bottles in both e-commerce and shadow style, to offer Kooper Family Whiskey options on how to use the images.

CASE STUDY: NALIN & CO. JEWELRY

 

Elevating a brand’s presence with polished, purposeful imagery

 

When Nalin & Co. needed new product photography for their website relaunch, the goal wasn’t just “better photos.” They were aiming for cohesion, clarity, and elegance across their entire visual identity.

Nalin wanted the kind of imagery that stops scrolls, builds trust, and helps convert browsers into buyers.

And that’s exactly what I set out to create.

THE CHALLENGE

 

Craft distinct visual assets for 30 plus pieces of jewelry—each requiring both clean product shots and lifestyle images with a model—on a tight timeline and with a controlled budget. Nalin wanted high-end, editorial-adjacent photography that felt sophisticated but approachable. Something that wouldn’t just look good on a website, but would feel at home in a premium catalog or marketing campaign.

THE APPROACH

 

I started by aligning on the look:

  • Minimalist backdrops in warm neutrals and whites
  • Editorial-style lighting with controlled highlights
  • Clean compositions that let the jewelry do the talking

To maximize impact, I selected and worked with three models to create a sophisticated and timeless look with the versatility of different outfit and styling changes.

This gave Nalin a variety of content options while keeping production efficient.

Every piece was styled and lit to accentuate craftsmanship—highlighting cuts, metalwork, and how the pieces play with light.

Clean, natural retouching ensured the final assets retained detail and authenticity without distractions.

A product photography case study for FabLab Goods

 

FabLab Goods wanted to update their website to appeal to executives that enjoy personalized high quality items.

The Goal:

Capturing the essence of luxury and showcasing the craftsmanship behind each product.

Visuals that not only highlight quality but also create an emotional connection with their audience.

With rich, moody tones to elegant settings, the approach would blend style and refinement to appeal to both the discerning aficionado and the thoughtful gift buyer.

We wanted to craft a visual narrative that embodied the soul of FabLab Goods and set the brand apart in a way that’s as unique as the products they create.

SOPHISTICATION, LUXURY,
AND STYLE IN EVERY FRAME

Keeping with a rustic wooden surface and warm hues, we wanted to show the variations of their custom engraving in both metal and leather.

NEW PRODUCT WEBSITE

Baldmate was launching their online e-commerce business and came to me for product photography.  They needed a combination of white background e-commerce photos along with some life-style images to create the envisioned website.  

Several months after the shoot, I hadn’t heard from Baldmate, so I decided to check and see if the website was live.  

What I saw stunned me …

The images I provided had been reduced in size, creating a haze around the products.  The images looked muddy – not at all what I would want associated with any project I am involved with.

I resized the images to their site’s requirements and sent them the replacements, no haze!  It is important to allow your product photographer to properly size your images – I do not charge extra for this – it is a part of my service.  I want all of my clients to shine!

Oasis Humidifiers – Website Refresh

Oasis Humidifiers’ website was old and outdated. The images too small to see and grainy when you tried to zoom in. They wanted a new site and went to BizMarquee. Randy recommended me for their product photos. Dave, the owner and I discussed some ideas and he decided to move forward.

Below are some of the new images I created for their website and socials.

I have used a number of commercial photographers over the years for my business, Oasis, Inc. While all of the photographers were competent, Tom Crowl takes his photography to a higher level than any previous photographers.

We make humidifiers for musical instruments that shrink as the water evaporates. This is the primary selling feature of our products. The user can see when the humidifier should be refilled. Tom put together a sequence of photographs that show this process in action…quite remarkable. All of his other photos were excellent and showed our products off very favorably.

I am very glad that I found Tom and would highly recommend anyone wanting commercial product photography should contact Tom.
