Crafting clean, consistent bottle shots with character

 

When Kooper Family Whiskey needed professional product photography for their retail and e-commerce listings, the brief was clear: precision, consistency, and premium polish.

The images needed to reflect the craftsmanship behind each bottle—without distractions.

Every shot had to feel intentional and cohesive, no matter where it appeared—on a website, inside a distributor catalog, or in an ad campaign.

THE CHALLENGE

 

Photograph eight SKUs with varying bottle shapes and label styles, while maintaining uniform lighting, angles, and background.

The goal was to create a seamless product library that made it easy for customers—and retailers—to connect with the brand’s identity at a glance.

Although the initial concept was light color white to gray shaded backgrounds, the desire for a prominent whiskey colored shadow was discussed.

This would involve shooting hard light through the bottle to create a suitable shadow.

THE APPROACH

 

I treated each bottle like a flagship product—polished, lit, and styled for maximum clarity.

  • White seamless backgrounds for clean e-commerce alignment
  • Controlled light to enhance label details and glass reflections
  • Consistent angle and crop to unify the product line visually
  • High-end retouching to preserve detail while removing imperfections

The shoot was completed over three days in the studio.  This allowed time to experiment and position lighting to create shadows that matched the Kooper vision.

Every bottle cleaned by hand to eliminate dust, fingerprints, and other retail distractions.  

High end editing cleaned any missed imperfections and sharpened the labels, as well as refined the glow of the whiskey and shadow to match the Kooper brand.
